Mindfulness Therapy

Breathing through trauma into healing

How is mindfulness incorporated into therapy?

Whether you are doing EMDR or KAP therapy with Mind Free Counseling, mindfulness through breathing and noticing is a key component.

We breathe every day, so why are we not healed? It is not breathing, but the noticing of breathing that shifts us into the limbic part of the brain that allows us to notice the experience. When we can notice the experience without our mind (which does not exist in the limbic part of the brain), our body can go through the natural healing process it was designed to do.

When working with clients, Mind Free Counseling incorporates mindful breathing to help distract the mind and, at the same time, bring our awareness into the body through the breath. This helps activate the limbic part of our brain so we can become mind-free.

The goal is to get the mind out of the way so the body can heal.

“Coming Home”

Beneath the ache,
a breath waits.

Not to fix,
but to witness—
the wound,
the strength,
the slow return.

You are not broken.
You are becoming.
